When it comes to the keto diet, we seem to have all of our core meals figured out. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all well thought out and carefully meal prepped but what about snacks?
Although the high-fat content that you will be consuming on the keto diet will leave you feeling full most of the time, there will be times when you will feel like you need a snack to hold you over until your next meal. If your snacks are not carefully planned out like breakfast, lunch and dinner, it can be very easy to get off track!
I have created a list of 16 of the absolute best and tastiest snacks to eat while on the keto diet. These snacks will help you stick with your keto diet and stay in ketosis!
16 DELICIOUS LOW CARB KETO FRIENDLY SNACKS SAFE FOR THE LETO DIET
String cheese makes for an awesome snack and is very keto-friendly. Be sure you choose the full-fat version with no added carbs or fillers.
Pork rinds are another excellent snack while on the keto diet. They won’t necessarily fill you up but they are full of fat and will act as a filler until your next meal!
Whip up a batch of guacamole which is full of “good fat” and use veggies to dip! Veggies such as celery and carrots and cheese crisps make great low carb ‘dippers’.
AHHHH…cheese crisps! The lifesaver for low carb lovers. These magical baked globs of cheese allow us to be able to have something with the texture of a chip with a slight crunch. Looking for a cheese crisp recipe? Click here!
Yep, you read the right peanut butter! Hold on though! Not just any peanut butter. Natural peanut butter without any added carbs is the best. I absolutely love Peter Pan’s smooth honey roasted peanut butter but the added honey makes it not so keto friendly. BUMMER! Try pairing it with celery or even apple slices!
Fat bombs are meant to provide you with fat if you are struggling to eat enough of it daily. There are plenty of different recipes out there including: peanut butter and dark chocolate, fudge, strawberry shortcake, white chocolate and more.
Be sure when choosing a beef jerky, it has no added carbs or fillers. If it does, it could throw you out of ketosis. Opt for all natural additive free beef jerky. If you are not sure whether your beef jerky contains added carbs, consider making your own!
HARD BOILED EGGS
You can prepare your eggs in a large batch at one time. Keep them refrigerated and grab and go as you need! Hardboiled eggs make the perfect on the go, healthy snack!
Nuts are high in fat and are good for you…in moderation of course. Be sure you are eating no more than a handful of nuts at a time. Anything more can knock you out of ketosis.
MEAT AND CHEESE ROLL UPS
Such a simple yet filling snack for those on a low carb diet. Simply place a slice of cheese on top of a slice of deli meat and roll it up! Healthy, filling and keto-friendly snack!
Pickles are perfect on their own as a low carb snack but if you are looking for something a little more filling, try slicing them in half and spread with tuna. Delicious!
When choosing kale chips, be sure they have no added carbs of artificial flavors that can bump you out of ketosis. Feeling brave? Consider making your own!
BERRIES AND HEAVY CREAM
I know it sounds not all that great but trust me, it’s delicious! Prepare a bowl of your favorite berries: strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, etc. and drizzle about a tablespoon of heavy cream over them. If you are lucky and find super sweet berries, you won’t need any sugar (stevia in this case). ENJOY!
Pepperoni slices are highly processed so enjoy them in moderation. Paired with a full-fat cheese, these make the perfect keto-friendly snack.
Olives are delicious and just a few can satisfy your urge to snack!
Greek yogurt is excellent, top with your favorite berries and enjoy!
Although this is by no means a complete list of keto-friendly snacks, it is a great start. Try incorporating some of these snacks into your diet. They will keep you full, satisfied and help you stay on track!
