We’ve all had days where nothing seems to go right. Days where everything that can go wrong WILL go wrong! And the only thing you can think of doing is relaxing, unwinding and forgetting about it all.
Below you will find 5 ways you can unwind and relax after a stressful day. Hopefully these tips will leave you feeling refreshed, regrouped, refocused and ready to tackle the next day.
TAKE A HOT SHOWER – A hot shower may be just what the doctor ordered if you have had a stressful day. Stand in the hottest shower you can stand and feel the tension leave your body.
STRETCH – Stretching is another great way to unwind after a stressful day. Yoga and Pilates are excellent for loosening tight, stiff muscles.
EXERCISE – Exercise releases endorphins that can boost your mood significantly. Just 30 minutes a day can make a world of difference! If you can, exercise outdoors; fresh air is known to boost your mood significantly.
INDULGE – Try indulging in something special. Whether it be your favorite dessert or a glass of your favorite wine. Treating yourself to something you normally do not indulge in on a daily basis can really help with bringing your stress levels down.
TAKE A WARM BATH – Probably my favorite out of them all! A relaxing bath can work wonders for a tired body and soul. Add bubble bath and bath bombs for an even more relaxing experience.
Want a spa-like experience at home? Light a few scented candles, dim the lights sip on a glass of wine! Let the warmth and peacefulness absorb all the stresses of the day.
My favorite candles are Yankee candles. They have almost every scent imaginable and my favorite when I can escape to a relaxing bath is this Lavender Vanilla scent. I love the smell of vanilla and add a dose of relaxing lavender and I am in heaven!
COLOR – Yes, that’s correct! Coloring is not just for kids anymore! Coloring has been shown to lower stress levels in adults.
The thought behind this is that coloring allows us to shut our brains off and focus just on coloring. Therefore, no negative thoughts and a less cluttered mind!
