I love the feel and smell of fresh crisp air, especially in the spring. The good ole fashioned way of making your home smell good is to open all of the windows and let that fresh air break up all the cooking odors and staleness. But for those times when that isn’t possible, I have put together a list of 5 natural ways to make your home smell AH-mazing!
ESSENTIAL OILS DIFFUSER
I LOVE my essential oil diffuser because it is so easy to use! With mine, I fill it with water, add some drops of my favorite essential oils and turn that baby on!
The fine mist the diffuser creates will carry the scent throughout your home for a lasting and therapeutic freshness!
My favorite essential oil scents are lavender, lemon, bergamot and cedarwood. I can smell them all right now! Essential oils are an excellent way to get rid of tough odors and that stale, stuffy feeling in your home.
You can find the diffuser that I recommend and use daily here. I love this diffuser because it acts as a natural air purifier, eliminating dust and allergens and allows you to choose from two modes, intermittent and continuous.
It features 7 different color LED lights that are a perfect sensory compliment to the therapeutic effect of the essential oils.
You won’t be disappointed with this essential oil diffuser!
ALL NATURAL AIR FRESHENER
If you don’t have a diffuser or prefer a different method of freshening your home, consider making your own all-natural air freshener spray.
Here is what you will need:
- a small glass spray bottle
- distilled water (warm)
- tablespoon of baking soda
- 20 drops essential oil blend of your choice
- Add the tablespoon of baking soda to the glass bottle.
- Fill the spray bottle with the warm distilled water.
- Add 20 – 30 drops of your favorite essential oil blend
- Shake well.
- Spray generously throughout your home whenever you need to freshen up!
That’s it! You have just made your very own all-natural air freshener spray with household ingredients!
DIY GEL AIR FRESHENERS
Love candles but not the flame? These DIY gel air freshener jars may be just what you need!
If you have kids in the home or curious pets, sometimes candles are not the best option for freshening up your home.
All natural gel air fresheners to the rescue! These are so easy to make, they make your home smell amazing and they can be customized with your favorite essential oil blends, decorative items such as flower petals and shells!
My personal absolute fav! I use this method during the holidays as a way to make the air more festive.
I have a very small, dedicated saucepan that I fill with water, lemon or orange peels and some herbs and let it simmer on low.
Another way to do this is to use a mini crock-pot such as this one.
Follow the same instructions as above for the stovetop option and let the crock-pot simmer on low all day, only adding water when needed.
This is a great way to keep cooking odors at bay when you are cooking up things like fried foods. SImply turn on the crockpot and let it work its’ magic!
SCENTED WOOD BLOCKS
These are super easy to make, they work wonders and last quite a while! When the scent begins to fade, simply add more of your favorite oils or oil blends!
